For the 2016-17 school year, we have a new required training video on protecting student data. The video will give school leaders and teachers a simple understanding of the legal landscape and instructions on how to protect their students and themselves.
The video is available in the Lawson training portal and is labeled "Protecting Student Data." Completion of this video will be tracked to ensure the widest distribution possible to bring attention to new laws that could have a substantial impact on how data is handled in the district. The video will be available starting July 31, 2016. All teachers are encouraged to have the training completed before students return and are required to have the training completed by Sept. 30th.
We have made this video available to individual staff users through our Lawson training site. Login with your DPS username and password then on the left hand menu click on training then click the item "Protecting Student Data" to start the video.
Schools may facilitate this training in groups through the district's video media service, Safari Montage. To access the video use the link below. You will need to login with your DPS username and password then select your location and then you will be redirected to the video.
